3 words: disco prom night
I have the absolute pleasure of working with so many couples who have a unique vision for their wedding day and just go for it. Caitlin and PJ are the perfect example of a couple with a clear vision of what they wanted for their wedding day and they somehow managed to execute it perfectly even while having to pivot their plans due to the pandemic.
They went from their original plans of getting married at one of my favorite pre pandemic spots, The Punch House to transferring the overall feel of their plans to a hotel room decked out for their virtual guests to enjoy as much as those in person.
Their details pretty much speak for themselves:
“Our wedding was cancelled, re-scheduled, down-sized, and eventually became a weird little affair in a hotel room on Zoom.”
Caitlin and PJ got ready separately with their moms before meeting on the roof for their classically Chicago, very windy first look.
Caitlin’s aunt very sweetly drove us around the West Loop for portraits and we found some really fun spots. The West Loop is full of so many great murals and textures but we found some especially fun and different spots.
“And the photos are stunning and reflective of who we are as a couple and who we are as individuals and what we wanted our wedding to be and feel like.”
Intimate weddings are inherently chill but when you only have 3 guests + 1 officiant in person, everything is extra laid back. Before the zoom ceremony everyone took a minute to relax, have a bite to eat and prepare for the coolest ceremony I’ve witnessed this far in my career.
Their zoom ceremony began with an amazing video montage of the couples favorite movie clips set to LCD Soundsystem, so I obviously had chills from the get go.
Caitlin & PJ’s friend did an amazing job officiating - it was both entertaining and moving. Their ceremony was streamed by Wedfuly so that all their original guests could watch at home. It was a magical ceremony to witness. From their personal vows to the streamers popped by their moms and aunt at the end, it was all so them.
After the ceremony, their guests went back to their rooms to watch the virtual reception. The couple danced their first dance off video camera, PJ made them martinis and they sat down for their virtual reception hosted by Wedfuly.
To be honest - before witnessing Caitlin & PJ’s wedding - I had no idea how a zoom reception would work. I promise you that Wedfuly did not pay me to say this, but it seemed like they made the whole process so smooth, easy and fun. They had a designated host to lead the guest through the reception that included their cake cutting, a dance moment (to ABBA of course) and two speeches. The flow of the reception felt perfect and it was so fun to watch Caitlin and PJ react to their friends and family, especially dancing it out to ABBA.
After the reception highlights the couple was able to spend a few minutes in different breakout rooms that would be similar to spending time talking with each table.
Once they were finished with the virtual reception portion of the evening, the couple’s in person guests returned to share dinner and drinks together.
I’m still just in complete awe of this wedding and these two. Not only did they have the coolest zoom wedding (probably ever) but they also managed to still incorporate all of their original vendors into their wedding day.
I’m so grateful to all of my clients that were able to incorporate me into their pandemic wedding plans. 2020 was by no means an easy one for my business but as always the support of my amazing clients got me through!

“From jump, we knew, no matter what happened this year, that we still wanted Jordan to shoot our wedding and we are so glad we stuck with her.”
