City Hall Wedding + Park Picnic

Karline and Guilherme went through the ringer with their wedding plans. On top of the pandemic shaking things up, their original venue closed and they couldn’t fly in their family from out of the country. They then found out they were going to be making a cross country move and tried to get a city hall wedding date before leaving. Things didn’t exactly pan out the way they imagined. They actually got married the day they walked in to city hall to see if they could get an appointment before the move!

But a few weeks later they dressed up and met me downtown for some fun portraits followed by a surprise picnic set up by friends in a park on the lakeshore!

Just because they didn’t get married at City Hall that day, doesn’t mean we skipped over the must have City Hall sign for photos.

One of the few pandemic wedding silver linings was a less crowded than normal downtown Chicago.

After taking portraits around downtown we headed up north to a park on the lakeshore where friends had set up a small picnic and even surprised the couple with live music.

The couple gave a quick toast to one another and their friends before popping a bottle of bubbly to celebrate!

A friend baked their beautiful cake and this cake cutting was maybe one of the cutest I’ve photographed!

We took a few more photos with some fun color smoke bombs in the park to wrap things up. Karline even lost an eyelash twirling around (I really do document everything)!

Again, Karline and Guilherme’s wedding plans may not have gone as planned but they’re proof that you can still have a beautiful and special day no matter what. I had so much fun working with them to make this all come together!
